Back in April of this year, we did a cat portrait contest with a very talented artist from Ontario, Canada named Beth Pimm and received a lot of paw-sitive response and interest from our readers. Now that it’s approaching holiday season time, we thought it might be fun to host another cat art contest.
We were thrilled to find an exceptional pet portrait artist named Maria Feels from Moscow, Russia and she was delighted to offer one lucky Purrington Post reader the chance to win a custom portrait of their cat. Below are a few examples of Maria’s portraits … she does them all using colored pencils. Impressive huh! >^..^<

I regret not taking more pictures of her, I have so few and even fewer good ones. I just want to remember her and smile at what an amazing friend she was
My cats name is Solomon. I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Solomon because he is a gentle, patient, and very fatherly to my other rescue cats. Solomon’s name depicts who he is! My cats name was Cat Cats. Notice I said was. That’s because Cat Cats died two years ago. He was 17 years old and diabetic. He was with me through every life change I had. I loved him. He was my best friend and I miss him every day. I think about him a lot and I remember how awesome he was. He loved flaming hot cheeses and pizza flavored gold fish. If I wasn’t paying attention, he would drink my Pepsi. Which is probably why he was diabetic. I would love Maria to do a portrait of Cat Cats. Now that he is gone, I regret not having more pictures of him. I worry that I didn’t love on him enough and I hope he knows how special he was to me and how he helped me through some really rough parts of my life. He was the best cat.

My cats name is Nadia and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Nadia because she is from space. She crash landed on earth, and it took her a while to find us. She only has four teeth and has problems digesting food from our planet. She tries to “cat” but she doesn’t quite understand the cats from earth. She does communicate well with her human caretakers using plenty of nuzzles, drool and purrs.
My cats name is Nala and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Nala because she is the most loyal and sociable cat I’ve ever had the privilege to share my life with. She goes with the flow and follows us from room to room.

My cat’s name is Rosie, and I would love Maria to do a portrait of Rosie because, she was rescued by my organization, she was abused and I could barely touch her when I took her home. With patience, a gentle voice and hand, I slowly gained her trust and now she’s my love bug. Rosie was slated to be put down at the kill shelter she was in with her kittens, a very young mother less than 1 year old. We saved them all. My love , My heart, My Rosie
My cats name is Sephie. I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Sephie because she was a beautiful soul who owned a piece of my heart. One year ago while being boarded at an animal hospital, Sephie was given a lethal dose of insulin. It was 100 times the amount she should have been given, enough to kill a horse. Sephie was an incredible, loving, nurturing, kind kitty who owned and continues to own my heart. That part of my heart perished with her and I haven’t been able to get past the grief. I would cherish a portrait memorial of my precious Sephie for she truly deserves a proper memorial. Thank you for this opportunity.
My cats name is Bella and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Bella because I’ve only had her for 5 months but she is my world (and hopefully I, hers!) and she’s been a constant presence with me through the lowest points I’ve experienced since I’ve had her. It would be nice to have a portrait especially since she’s a cutie and everyone who has met her loves her!
My cats name was Kimba, and I would love Maria to do a fabulous portrait of her for me. Sadly Kimba passed away 2 years ago this Thursday, she was 19.5 years old and had sadly gotten cancer, so we had to set her free when it progressed too much. I got Kimba when she was a little kitten of 5 weeks old, I had her before I had any of my human children. She was my best little friend and my most loved fur child. I (we all do) miss her every day, my beautiful brown girl. ❤️😞

My cats name is Tikvah’s Aphrodite and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Aafje because she is my big pride. Born in 2011. She gave me me her first babies in 2014. She’s my queen and I would be honored if Aafje was portraited. In the morning she’s the first to wake me up with kisses and in the evening she’s always aside. Can’t imagine a life without her. The is my pride and joy <3
My name is Oakley and although I am Indeed a very handsome fella, I would love ( and so would my Mom) for Maria to do a portrait of my Brother Rossi because he really is a Beautiful Big Boy who would look magnificent in a drawing.
He is gray with very expressive eyes and long whiskers and a big boy at 17 pounds ( he’s a lion compared to me 😻) but he wasn’t always like that, he was dirty, stinky had ear mites and fleas and weighed only one pound when Rossi and my Mom rescued each other ( My Mom rescued Rossi on what would have been her sons 18th Birthday, he lives in heaven).
He is a great little brother oh and did I mention Beautiful ( even I’m a little envious) and I would love for Mom to have a drawing of him, she takes good care of us all (total 2 dogs, 3 cats) and often goes without so we are all happy and healthy, this would be my way of saying Thankyou
Thanks for your consideration
My cat’s name is Tricse and I would love Maria to do a portrait of Tricse because Tricse is very special and has never had her portrait done. If a portrait is done I would treasure it forever. Tricse (pronounced: Trixie) is a very pretty girl with ladylike feet and even though she is four, she is still very tiny and playful! Since Tricse is very beautiful I wouldn’t see any reason why I wouldn’t want a professional portrait of her.
I hope Tricse gets her portrait done, but I’m sure whoever gets their cat’s portrait done will be very happy!
Thank you
My cats name is Hami and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Hami because he was our fur son and our first ever fur baby as a couple. Our great love for Hami led us to rescue 5 kitties, 2 of which are FIV+. Hami left us unexpectedly from cardiomyopathy without any visible signs. He was only 10 years 8 months. It has been 15 months since he left us in July 2016 and it would be a special memorable tribute to Hami if we are chosen. He would have been 12 years old come November 3.
My cats name is Spencer and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Spencer because he is a very handsome kitty who just loves to pose for pictures and would make a good subject for Maria to work on.
My cats name is Eddie and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Eddie because she is a total diva (yes, she…think Edina Monsoon from Ab Fab!) and she can think of nothing better than staring at a beautiful portrait of herself all day! The idea alone is ameowzing but the reality would be purrfect 🙂
My cats name is Elbee and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Elbee because Elbee stands for LB, which stands for LoverBoy, LittleBuddy, LittleBoy, LittleBugger. He is my little helper when I have foster kittens, he bathes them, cuddles them, and cleans them. He is my heart kitty. <3
My guy ” Ozzie ” is the best pal I guy ever had.
Loyal, loving, and my best buddy.

She was by my side making me feel better every day. If not for her I would not have gotten well. It is just the two of us. My husband of 40 years left me and took my three other cats, Jack, Alice and Ted. So I really rely on Nancy to keep me safe and sane.
My cats name is Kallie and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Kallie because she is no longer with me, she was with me day and night for 19 wonderful years. My cats name are Romeo and Mozart and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Romeo or Mozart or both of them together because they are my furry children. Romeo clings to me as my velcro child and since I am not able to have real kids he was also fostered by this wonderful lady before he came home with me and when my grams was around, she adored him dearly teaching him all these little funny antics. He is the first to greet me the sec I arrive at the door.
I would be honored to have Maria draw a portrait of our beloved Maine Coon Milton. He passed away five years ago, at 15 years old. He comforted my husband through every round of chemo. Ironically, Milton also had cancer and passed. My husband and I will always love him:)

My cats name is Tomas, and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Tomas because, he recently passed away due to some health complications with his bladder. He was the sweetest cat and would always welcome me once I got home from work, would cuddle when we went to bed and would always follow me to the restroom to sit on my lap. He deserves to have a portrait of him in order to keep his memory and all the moments we shared together for the entire six years that he spent with me.
My cats name is Versace Collins and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Versace because even though he was rescued after being born under a bush in the rain he firmly believes that he is one of my children and has taken our family name of Collins as his own. He wishes his portrait to be a nude but I have convinced him that he should at least wear his Swarovski collar as not to offend the masses during its first presentation.
My late cats name is Sir Nogie and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Nogie because he was the first furry child my husband and I rescued after we got married. He was a pawsome companion, who lived almost 16 years and accompanied us through many tumultous moves within the USA, as well as to Turkey and back. His life was cut short because of an aggressive tumor in his mouth. We would feel honored if Maria would memorialize our darling kitty with her beautiful art.
My cat’s name is Feta and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of her because she is had a very hard life so far and deserves to be spoiled. She was found on the streets of Jersey City with for nursing kittens and a crushed leg, probably hit by a car. She was emaciated and terrified but still taking good care of her kittens. Over a year later now and I have fostered her and then adopted her, she had to have one leg amputated and soon we’ll have to have the other amputated as well. Despite all of this, she raised her kittens into beautiful healthy cats who are in new homes now, and she Remains the sweetest Kitty I’ve ever met! She is an absolute love and everyone adores her. My cats name is Minos, and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Minos because, aside from her art being absolutely beautiful, Minos means King in Greek and every King needs to have a custom portrait of himself in his Castle. Minos is definitely a typical King, he is rather full of himself, and rightfully so. He was born outside in a very harsh New England winter and was brought into my work, which was a low cost spay/neuter clinic as a feral at 5 weeks old with a sister and his Mom. We pleaded with the client to let us rehab the babies and put them up for adoption, they never would have made it through the winter. They agreed, of course I couldn’t resist him, and now he rules our Castle living a life of luxury. Thank you
My cat’s name is Scampurr.
I would love for Maria to do a portrait of him because he’s one sexy scoundrel.

Hello there!
My cats name is Rise and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Rise because I think her portrait work is amazing and I would love to have artwork of my precious baby girl. She’s been with us for the past two years and was rescued form the Animal Shelter that I volunteered at. She’s got a lot of personality and loves to spend her days basking in the sunlight coming in through our window. I’m so happy I adopted her and hope to give her the best life possible!

She is my “fur-baby” that I will be taking with me once I finish college in the Spring.
I would be thrilled to have Maria sketch a portrait of my kitty family – I have 5! Delilah, KitKat, Daisy, Dusty and Lilly – all rescue cats from various places. I just got my cat mat done for the holdidays. I can just imagine the smile I would have if I had the actual sketch done – my family would love it knowing how much I love my kitty family.
My cat’s name is Mouse and I would love to have her portrait done because she is 16 years old and I will not have her with me for much longer, given her age, and I do not have a decent photograph of her.

My cat’s name is Kylie and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Kylie because she turns 17 on the 3rd of November and she is suffering from kidney disease, so I’m not sure how long she will be around…Kylie is a beautiful silver shaded persian x chinchilla and is very loving!
My cats name is Kapono and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Kapono because he and my husband are inseparable. He just turned 15 and we were told when he was a baby that he wouldn’t live long because of his health problems. Every night he curls up into my husband’s arms and they fall asleep like that. They are best friends. I would love to present a custom portrait of Kapono to Russ because it would mean so much to him. And when the unfortunate day comes that we have to say goodbye to our little sweetie, I would love for my husband to have something beautiful to look at to remember our special baby boy. We have two other cats as well and they are very special too. But Kapono is the one who has become Russ’s shadow and best friend.
My cats name is Parker and I would love for Maria to do a portrait of Parker because he is beautiful, sweet, and my best friend for nine years.
These portraits are absolutely beautiful! They look very lifelike indeed. I almost expect any of the cats to come running if I shake a bag of treats.
The portraits are stunning. I have 6 cats and would love to see each of them having their very own portrait hanging on our wall. That must be heaven like scenario for a crazy cat lady. 🙂
My cat’s name is Lily, and I want Maria to make a portrait of her, because Lily is the first cat I have ever had and she is my best friend. Lily passed about a year and a half ago and I miss her very much. Ever since Lily and her siblings ventured together, M’s body has been feeling muddy and depressed. Therefore, waking up every day to take a look at the exquisite paintings of my baby girl will refresh my mood, because there are not many people you meet who can change your mood instantly. I am honored to know someone willing to take the time to do such a great thing. So thank you Maria for providing this contest to Purrington Post. We all appreciate.
I want to give you a big thumbs up for this nice work. Thanks for this fantastic post. Keep updating your more ideas with us.
