We love our cats. Of course, we do. They’re beautiful, cute, friendly, wholesome, and cuddly when they want feeding. I love my cat more than anything, and whenever I’m in a bad mood, she always knows how to cheer me up.

But, as you know, cats are also a little independent, so I can’t spend all my time with her, which means I fulfill my cat craving instead with some of my favorite cat books. If you’re a cat lover, these are not to be missed, so let’s jump straight into it!

This is a translated story written by Soseki Natsume, one of Japan’s most classic literature collections. It’s a beautiful and satirical look at Japanese society in the 20th Century from the perspective of a noble house cat who watches humans and shares his perspective. Very funny and entertaining from start to finish.

One of my absolute favorites, and a truly original story you won’t see anywhere else on this list. It’s a sci-fi story where cats and dogs, among other animals, are fighting against humanity. They have speech and human-level thought. Morte falls in love with the dog next door, and when the war comes to their doorsteps, he has to fight rather than find love.

Simon’s cat, created by Simon Tofield, has become a huge meme on the internet, and as soon as you see the animations and cartoons, you’ll remember having already seen these. However, have you read the story for yourself?

Simon’s cat is innocent, constantly hungry, adorable, affectionate, and has no concept of what is right and what is wrong. Basically everything both mine and your cat is. Tofield nails these details perfectly.

Says it all right? You already know what cats are like when it comes to ownership of human belongings. When you have a cat, you don’t own anything. Everything is your cat’s. Written by the amazing writer that is T.S Eliot, this is the book that actually inspired the Cats musical to come out. It’s full of nonsense and craziness, and it’s definitely a light-hearted read that’s only going to leave you begging for more!
